Physical activity offers the experience of making positive choices and getting positive results, and that forms the foundation of success.
We take care of ourselves so we can take care of others. If we want children to adopt healthy behaviors we need to model the behavior ourselves.
When we mentor another person, it changes not only their life, but also our own.
Letter From the Founder
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about A World Fit for Kids! As the WFIT CEO for over 25 years, this transformational organization has helped me come full circle in my lifelong commitment for making a difference in the world.
At a very young age, I had the good fortune of having wonderful role models who inspired me not only to achieve, but also to give back. I realized early on that physical activity, especially dance, made me feel energized and alive and helped me become more confident. I found my passion and it allowed me to connect and share with others. When I was12 years old, I began teaching dance to the younger girls in my neighborhood who didn’t have the same opportunity to take lessons that as I did.
Today, I’m blessed to be able to continue expressing my passion for mentoring, movement and making a difference that I discovered as a girl. It is a huge privilege for me to work with thousands of amazing young people and adults as we collectively strive to create a better world…A World Fit For Kids!
The work we do is truly life changing. Our programs specialize in healthy behaviors such as physical activity and nutrition, but they go beyond physical wellness to promote social and emotional learning, self-awareness and self-esteem, leadership skills, academic achievement, and work readiness.
I think you will agree that a world where ALL kids with have access to opportunities and experiences that will help them be fit, healthy and ready to learn is a world that can benefit us all. I hope you will join us in bringing that world to many more kids who deserve it!
